Creation of reserve data copying system

In 2005 Heineken Baikal Brewery (Baikal Brewery Company OJSC before October 2) entered the group of Heineken companies. As a result the holding raised its requirements to the informational content of the company's business. The volume of the organization's processed data (various documents, correspondence, e-mail). That is why the administration of the company made a decision on lowering the risks of possible information losses by means of reserve data copying system.
During theproject the personnel of Open Technologies inspected the existing information structure, revealed requirements to the reserve copying system and made a technical solution on organization of automatic reserve data copying system of the company's business applications (1С, Monolith ERP-system) and system resources (mail server Domino and Exchange, Infrastructure serve, domain controller)
The built reserve copying system includes equipment of Hewlett-Packard (tape device HP 1/8 Ultrium 960 Tape Autoloader) and Symantec (Backup Exec™ 10d) software.
HP 1/8 Ultrium 960 Tape Autoloader device is an easy to use device providing for an opportunity of economical information storage while reserve data copying. Symantec Backup Exec™ 10d software provides for the maximal use of the potential of tape device and guarantees complex and certified use of reserve copying and restoration.
"The solution of Open Technologies totally corresponds to our requirements to hardware and software of the reserve data copying system in terms of functional content, reliability and cost", says Sergey Gultiayev, head of the IT and communications department at Heineken Baykal Brewery LLC.
The system provides for reserve data copying without stops in its main business applications.
According to the director of Irkutsk branch of Open Technologies Evgenin Erdman "the built system will provide not only for storing data that are essential for customer, but will so be able to restore all the information in minimal terms in case of failures of the informational system.
